Dr. Chang focuses on endoscopic prevention, diagnosis, and management for gastrointestinal/colorectal cancer and diseases, with an interest in pancreaticobiliary care. His interest in serving the community has been recognized by the UCLA Chanceller’s Service Award and as a Gastroenterology Physician of the Year at USC. Having previously served as a Clinical Instructor at both Los Angeles General Medical Center and USC Keck Medical Center, he now welcomes the honor of joining Unio with his esteemed partners and team to serve you and your patients.
Dr. Chang graduated from UCLA and received his medical degree as a DeBakey Research Scholar at Tulane University: School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. Since then, he completed clinical training as part of the USC Trojan Family in his Internal Medicine Residency, General Gastroenterology Fellowship and Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship. During training, he was selected as Chief Fellow of Outpatient Endoscopy and produced over twenty publications and seventy abstracts ranging from quality improvement in biliary endoscopy (ERCP), endoscopy outcomes and safety in the United States and seminal work for artificial intelligence and large language models to enhance colorectal cancer screening and management.
Dr. Chang is double board certified in Internal medicine and Gastroenterology. He is an active member and reviewer for the American Journal of Gastroenterology, the premier journal for American College of Gastroenterology. He has contributed first-author publications to top societal journals such as the ASGE’s Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the AGA’s Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Dr. Chang is open for referrals for upper endoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, biliary endoscopy (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). He has completed Advanced Endoscopy training with a focus on gastrointestinal cancer prevention, diagnosis, and management. He brings an interest in quality improvement in endoscopy, colorectal cancer screening care and management and pancreaticobiliary diseases. Under Unio, he considers it an honor be at you and your patient’s service.
Having grown up locally in San Marino, Dr. Chang brings a longstanding dedication to this community. He is an Eagle Scout and was inspired to pursue clinical medicine while working locally at Huntington Medical Research Institute as an undergraduate. Now by joining his partners at Unio, he completes his dream to return to provide care for this incredible community. He believes being a good listener is the first step to providing great care.
He wishes to express gratitude to his mentors that allow him to pursue his goal of providing high quality endoscopic care for the San Gabriel Valley. Besides a commitment to serving you, Dr. Chang loves spending time with his wife and newborn daughter and visiting his parents.
