Dr. Stephen Unterberg is a general Urologist who specializes in complex voiding dysfunction, male and female urinary incontinence, reconstruction, and neuro-urology. He finished his residency training at the University of California San Diego, and completed his fellowship in Female Urology at the University College Hospital in London, U.K. in association with the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

Dr. Unterberg attended the University of Pennsylvania for his undergraduate degree in neuropsychiatry. He subsequently earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.

Dr. Unterberg treats patients suffering from all Urologic conditions, and has a particular interest in men and women with complex bladder and voiding dysfunction. While in his fellowship working at a large tertiary referral hospital, he was able to focus his training on treating patients with complex overactive bladders, stress urinary incontinence, vaginal and urethral mesh complications, as well as management of patients with neurologic conditions. Finally, his fellowship training has allowed him to become proficient in treating patients with various lower and upper urinary tract reconstructive needs.

During his training, Dr. Unterberg has published and presented numerous peer reviewed articles on reconstruction as well as female urology, including the dilemma of mesh placement in the UK.

Dr. Unterberg enjoys treating the population of San Diego County in providing his expertise in managing patients with both simple and complex urologic needs.
