The incidence of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men increases with age. Estimates are that about 40% of men are affected at age 40 and nearly 70% are affected by age 70. We offer Penile Doppler Ultrasound as a useful imaging modality to determine response of erectile dysfunction to vasodilator medications. During the study, initially an ultrasound examination of penis is performed to assess for the presence and extent of any significant scar or plaque as can be seen in Peyronie’s Disease. After the initial survey, an injection of vasodilator medications (alprostadil) is performed to determine if there is an inflow or outflow component to erectile dysfunction. The findings and your response to this test can help your urologist formulate an individualized ED treatment plan specific for you.
