Urinary tract stones are a major source of pain and discomfort for the patient. Size and location of the stone is an important factor in determining the appropriate treatment. Additionally, stone composition, urinary tract anatomy and any anatomical anomaly, prior treatments, medications, and other medical conditions are important factors that we review prior to formulating a treatment plan for each patient. While some stones are small and may pass spontaneously, others may be treated and/or prevented with diet modification, medications, or minimally invasive surgical intervention.
At Unio Specialty Care, our urologic surgeons have extensive training and experience in advanced endoscopic stone treatments for the routine as well as the complicated stone patient. We offer the full spectrum of minimally invasive surgical treatment options which may include ureteroscopy with holmium laser, SWL (shockwave lithotripsy), PCNL (percutaneous nephrostolithotomy), da Vinci robotic assisted surgery, and laser treatment for bladder stones.
